1.Sania Mirza won her third WTA doubles title of 2011 and 12th overall after she along with her partner Yaroslava Shvedova defeated Olga Govortsova of Belarus and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia in the final of the Citi Open on 1 August 2011 in US.
2.India- Japan CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) enters into force on 1 August 2011. This is India’s 3rd Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (after Singapore and South Korea) and India’s first with a developed country.
3.Spain won the tenth edition of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship title in Romania beating the Czech Republic 3-2 on 1 August 2011. Spain become the first country to hold both u-19 and u-21 title in the same year.Paco Alcácer who came off the bench to score twice in the final 12 minutes played a significant role in helping Spain attain the title.
4.Astronomers using WISE telescope found the asteroid, named 2010TK7 which is the first known Trojan asteroid in Earth’s orbit.The asteroid is 300 meters in diameter and about 80 million kilometers from Earth.
5.26th Asian Men's Elite Boxing Championship starts in Inchio, South Korea.
