Chhattisgarh is India's 26th state, covers an area of 135,133 sq km. of the total geographical area of nation India and located in Center of India.

Chhattisgarh state of India came into existence on November 1, 2000. Mother tongue of Chhattisgarh is Chattisgarhi.There are 18 districts (initially there was 15 districts) in the state.

# Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh to the north
# Andhra Pradesh to the south.

About CGPSC, Colleges, University, Admission in Chattisgarh

Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, i.e. CGPSC examination held by Chhattisgarh State for graduate students and gazette posts, rajya seva posts. To say CGPSC is a Constitutional Body established to conduct examinations and recruit qualified candidates for appointment to the service of Government of Chhattisgarh.

Prospective candidates of CGPSC 2011 have to be cautious to enter accurate personal details for registration. Regular updates regarding advertisements and notifications of CGPSC 2011 can be accessed by creating a registered profile on the official website. 1.Naved Masood, 77 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre took over as new Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 1 August 2011. Prior to taking charge in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, he was Special Secretary and Financial Advisor, Department of Health and Family Welfare in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Masood replaced D.K.Mittal who was appointed as Secretary Department of Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance.

2.State Bank of India (SBI) has launched its first NRI specialed branch in Uttar Pradesh's capital city of Lucknow. It is planning to open three more NRI branches in the coming days at Kanpur, Deoria and Gorakhpur
.

PM's Economic Advisory Council scaled down Growth Rate Projection to 8.2 % for 2011-12.



4.According to the figures released by the Commerce Ministry on 1 August 2011 India's exports rose by 46.45 per cent to $29.21 billion during June 2011. The increase in export was registered amid concerns that the upward growth could be hit by the troubled economic situation in the U.S. and the European zone in the second-half. In May, exports had grown by 56.9 per cent year-on-year to $25.9 billion.


5.Champion double-trap shooter and Asian Games gold medalist Ronjan Sodhi (Punjab)was ranked No.1 in the world, as per the latest rankings released by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) on 1 August 2011. Double trap marksman Ronjan Sodhi won gold in the World Cup Finals in Turkey in 2010. He had recently won the silver medal in the Beijing World Cup to clinch the Olympic quota place. After the Beijing World Cup he went on to win a bronze medal in the next World Cup in Maribor.

6.Air Marshal Kishan Kumar Nohwar took over as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) on 1 August 2011.He has succeeded Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne who took over as the chief of the Air Staff on 31 July 2011.


7.Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) on 1 August 2011 announced the appointment of R.T. Agarwal as Director (Finance).


8.Globosport India, the celebrity and sports marketing company promoted by tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi acquired 50 per cent stake in Cornerstone Sports and Entertainment.


9.Flying Officer M. Suraj Pillai, 24, an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot hailing from East Veliyathunadu near Aluva(Kerala), was killed when a MiG-21 ‘Type 96' fighter aircraft piloted by him crashed in the precincts of Nal airbase in Bikaner district of Rajasthan on 2 Aug,2011.



10.Rajan Mathai is new foreign Secreatory of India took charge.He was former ambassador to France.He succeeds Nirupama Rao,who is now US Ambassador to US. Mr. Rakesh Sood, India's ambassador to Nepal,will succeed Mathai as New Delhi's envoy in Paris.


11.Aadhaar Scheme was Launched in Four Circles of Rajasthan on 2 August 2011 to provide 12-digit Unique identification numbers in Jaipur.The scheme was also launched in Ajmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur through video conferencing.AADHAAR is a unique identification project in India. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number which the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will issue for all residents in India.


12.Sanskrit scholar and Bhagavatham exponent Malliyoor Sankaran Namboothiri died in Kuruppanthara, on 2 August 2011.


13.Union Territory of Dadara and Nagar Haveli celebrated its 58th liberation day on 2 August 2011. The main function was held at Silvasaa, the Headquarter of the Union Territory.Dadara and Nagar Haveli is situated between or surrounded by Gujarat and Maharashtra


14.Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Shivraj V Patil was sworn in as the new Lokayukta of Karnataka on 3 August 2011. The oath was administered by Governor H R Bhardwaj at Raj Bhavan. Justice Patil succeeded Justice N Santosh Hegde who vacated office after completing eventful five-year tenure.


15.New Chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW): Mamta Sharma.Ms Sharma was a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly and 
President of Rajasthan State Women Congress Committee and Succeeded Ms Girija Vyas.


16.Ms Nirupama Rao (Former Foreign Secretary and U.S. Ambassador-designate) selected for the yearly annual award instituted by the Sree Chithira 
Tirunal Trust for the year 2011.

18)A youth in Assam has earned the distinction of entering the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the longest scratch art piece.


19)Jindal Steel and Power on 5 August 2011 announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global mining giant Rio Tinto to jointly work for global commercialisation of the HIsmelt technology. The technology will be used in a fully integrated steel-making facility.


20)A Panama-flagged cargo ship, RAK Carrier sank nearly 20 nautical miles off the Mumbai coast on 4 August 2011. The bulk carrier ship was on its way from Lubuk Tutung in Indonesia to Dahej in Gujarat to deliver more than 60000 tonnes of coal. This vessel owned and managed by M/s. Delta Shipping Marine Services, Qatarand classed with Lloyds Register of Shipping had set sail from Indonesia on 14 June 2011.

21)SPIC MACAY (An organization promoting Indian classical music and culture):19th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award to be presented to the SPIC MACAY for its outstanding contribution towards the promotion of communal harmony, peace and goodwill.

22) ICICI Securities and Collins Stewart Hawkpoint plc announced on 4 August 2011 that they entered into an alliance to co-operate with each other in growing their business franchises.Collins Stewart Hawkpoint is one of the leading independent financial advisory groups based in the U.K.

24)Aeronautical engineer N.S. Prabhakar Naidu (83), a doyen among the first batch of aeronautical engineers to graduate from the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1952, passed away in Seattle, United States on 6 August 2011. N.S. Prabhakar Naidu was a distinguished technocrat who innovative concepts that contributed to advanced aircraft design, performance, safety and reliability.He taught Aircraft Design and Production at the MIT and successfully flight-tested the first Sail Plane designed in India by a team of students and staff of the MIT.

25)Aditya Mehta claimed his maiden National snooker title by defeating Alok Kumar at the Hash10 World Sim championships

26)India's under-16 football team was defeated by Pakistan 1-2 in the title clash of the SAFF Championship.

27) India and Pakistan going to battle it hard for a vacancy for judge at the WTO, highest court for trade disputes the Appellate Body.
India nominated former trade envoy Mr. Ujal Singh Bhatia as its candidate
Mr. Bhatia was India ,ambassador to the WTO during 2004 and 2010.
Pakistan nominated its former trade envoy Manzoor Ahmad, who has worked closely with Islamabad trade ministry
 
28)In Kerala, former Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly (Varapuzha) Dr Cornelius Elenjikkal, 93 passed away
Dr Elenjikkal was also the former President of the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council and the Bishop of Vijayapuram for nearly 16 years 
 
29)India's under-16 football team coached by India coach Thomas Joseph  was  defeated by Pakistan 1-2 in the title clash of the SAFF Championship.

30)Chhattisgarh will have 9 new districts with effect from January 2012, taking the  total number of districts in the state to 27. These districts will be Sukma, Kondagaon, Gariabandh, Balodabazar, Balod, Bemetera, Mungeli, Surajpur and Balrampur.

 31) Veteran journalist and advertising professional, R. Narasimhan passed away.He was responsible for the formation of The Hindu Office and National Press Employees Union and held the posts of vice-president and general secretary of the Madras Union of Journalists.


32)Veteran actor and leading star of Bollywood of the 1960s, Shammi Kapoor died in Mumbai on 14 August 2011. Shammi Kapoor was known to be an extremely versatile actor.

33)The Union government suspended New India Assurance chairman M Ramadoss on 16 August 2011 for alleged violations in issuing insurance cover to an airline during his stint as head of another state-run insurer.United India Insurance head G Srinivasan would take additional charge of New India Assurance temporarily.

34)The complete national anthem, Jaya Hey, with four additional and barely known stanzas was launched by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on 13 August 2011. The full anthem was sung by India’s top artists, from Girija Devi, M Balamuralikrishna to Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan.  The presentation features five verses, sung and played by 39 celebrated Indian artists.

35)Three Army doctors were awarded the Sena Medal for gallantry for taking on terrorists and saving the lives of their colleagues during an attack on Indians in Kabul in 2010.Lieutenant Colonel Sanjiv Kumar Kakkar, Major Sumit Arora and Major Sibashish Metia of the Army Medical Corps were part of the Indian medical mission in Kabul when the terrorists carried out a suicide attack on the hotel where the Indian team was staying.Major Laishram Jyotin Singh was posthumously conferred the highest peacetime gallantry award Ashok Chakra on Republic Day 2011.

36)Winners of 2011 Kendra Sahitya Akademi Awards for Children's Literature announced.Five writers have been chosen for the Akademi's Bala Sahitya Puraskar for lifetime contribution to children's literature: Sailen Ghosh (Bengali), Shyam Dutt Parag (Dogri), Ramesh Parekh (Gujarati), Harikrishna Devsare (Hindi) and Maheswar Mohanty (Oriya).
Gh. Nabi Aatash (Kashmiri), Snehalata Rai (Nepali), Darshan Singh Asht (Punjabi), Abhiraj Rajendra Mishra (Sanskrit), Nuhum Hembram (Santali), M.L. Thangappa (Tamil) and Aasil Aseer Dehlavi (Urdu) won the award for poetry. 
The short-story writers selected included Maheswar Narzary (Bodo), Mayanath Jha (Maithili), Dileep Prabhavalkar (Marathi), Harish B. Sharma (Rajasthani) and M. Bhoopal Reddy (Telugu).
Bandita Phukan (Assamese), Siddhartha Sarma (English), Hundraj Balwani (Sindhi), N. D'souza (Kannada), Gajanan Jog (Konkani) and K. Pappootty (Malayalam) were the novelists selected for the award. Shantibala Devi (Manipuri) was chosen for her book of folk tales and plays.

37)Union Minister of Labour & Employment Shri Mallikarjun Kharge conferred the V.V.Giri Memorial Award 2010 to Dr. Panchmal Dinanath Shenoy as recognition of outstanding contributions towards the understanding of the emerging labour issues.

38)Forward Rajpal Singh was on Tuesday renamed as Indian hockey team’s captain for next month’s inaugural Asian Champions Trophy in Ordos, China

39)Hero MotoCorp (formerly Hero Honda) appointed Sunil Kant Munjal as Joint Managing Director of the company.

40)The Rajya Sabha on 18 August 2011 passed a resounding vote to impeach Calcutta High Court judge Justice Soumitra Sen and ruled out his resignation.

41)Indian Golf Team won Bronze in a Team Event at 48-year old Nomura Cup in Fiji.

42)Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award for the year, 2010 was announced on 19 August 2011. The Selection Committee chose Mira Kagti (Assam), Dr. S.A. Thasleem Sulthana  (Andhara Pradesh) and  for Dr.Mallika Nadda (Himachal Pradesh) for conferment of the prestigious award.
Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award is  in pursuance of the Government of India’s policy to support and promote voluntary action in the area of Child Development/Welfare, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India instituted the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award for Service to Children in 1994 to honour individuals who have made outstanding contribution towards the cause of children.

43)Leander Paes & Mahesh Bhupathi won the double's title at Cincinnati Masters by defeating French-Serbian combination Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic.

44) A Kolkata photographer, Debarshi Duttagupta was declared the Grand Prix winner among 60,000 entries in the 33 year old Nikon Photo Contest International.Debarshi Duttagupta won the award for his picture titled Learning to Fly. The picture was shot at a ghat in Varanasi and captured a moment that conveys the story of a small fishing community.

45) Noted historian and indologist RS Sharma died on 20 August 2011. Sharma who was born in a village near Barauni in Bihar's Begusarai district, was a historian of international repute.He was the founding chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) in 1972. He also served as President of the Indian History Congress in 1975.

46)The Programme called Himayat was launched by the Union ministry of Rural Development in Srinagar on 21 August 2011 for giving training and placement to over one lakh youth from poor families in Jammu and Kashmir.


47)Former Indian No 2 snooker player Syed Habib passed away on 20 August 2011.Habib was India No.2 in snooker for three years from 1980. Syed reached the semifinals of the National billiards championships twice in 1987 and 1988

 48)West Bengal State was Renamed Paschim Banga at an All-party Meeting.

49)Exponent of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana (school of music), Ustad Azizuddin Khan passed away on 23 August 2011. Affectionately called as Baba among his disciples, Azizuddin Khan along with his father Bhurji Khan who founded the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana had settled down in Kolhapur at the insistence of Chhatrapati Shhahu Maharaj. He originally hailed from Uniara of Rajasthan.

50)Rohit Nandan, a joint secretary in the civil aviation ministry was appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Air India for a three-year term on 12 August 2011. Nandan was appointed after removal of Arvind Jadhav from the position of Chairman and CMD.

51)The founder member of the Nehru Hockey Society, Shiv Kumar Verma, died on 23 August 2011. He was associated with with the activities of the Nehru Hockey Society for 47 years.

52) Veteran Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia announced his retirement from international soccer on 24 August 2011. He however will continue to play for his club that he is currently associated with, Sikkim United.

53) Chairman and managing director of the Mathrubhoomi group of newspapers, M.P. Veerendrakumar, was elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Press Trust of India (PTI) on 24 August. Veerendrakumar had twice before served as the PTI chairman.

54)Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah was appointed as the new Governor of Tamil Nadu.

55)International Master Rahul Sangma of Delhi won the Sunita Singh Memorial National youth (under-25) chess championship.

56) This veteran trade unionist and Communist Party of India-Marxist Politburo member,   Madhukar Kashinath Pandhe who served the trade union movement as a Secretary of the AITUC in the 1960s and then as one of the key leaders of the CITU of which he became the General Secretary from 1990 to 1999 and then its President till 2010 died on 20 August 2011.

57) Coal India replaces Reliance Industries as the Most Valued Indian Company.

58)Footwear and accessories maker Bata India appointed Rajeev Gopalakrishnan as the company’s new Managing Director

59)Gujarat governor Dr Kamla appointed a close Anna Hazare aide and former justice of the Gujarat High Court, R A Mehta, as the new Gujarat Lokayukta.
